Toni Blount

Regional Impact Manager

Toni Blount, Regional Impact Manager for myFutureNC, works intricately with communities in the Southeast region of North Carolina to increase educational attainment by awareness, data and strategy discussions. Toni earned her BS and M.A.Ed. from East Carolina University and holds a Community College Educational Leadership Certificate from UNC Wilmington. Toni is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Education from East Carolina University. Earning the NCAN Advising Certificate prepared her to delve into detailed planning strategies of student advising beginning in early childhood through adulthood.

Prior to myFutureNC, Toni served three North Carolina school districts in the area of college and career readiness: Coordinator of College Access and Scholarships, Early College Liaison, and the Career and College Promise Liaison to NC Community Colleges. Additionally, Toni teaches on faculty at two NC community colleges where she learned her passion for college and career advising.

From a leadership perspective, Toni serves on the NC ACT Council and the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) Advisory Task Force. She previously served as the SACAC Government Relations co-chair for North Carolina where she worked to remove the barriers many students face with broadband issues and optional college admissions testing. Toni is deeply involved in the statewide and national conversations on college admissions and financial aid, career and college promise and workforce readiness. Toni’s professional goals include the promotion of college and career readiness strategies that upon graduation, North Carolina students have a “best fit” post-secondary plan which includes achieving grants and scholarships, career credentials, future college credit and the readiness to experience life as an independent student, employee, intern or military recruit.

Personally, Toni resides in New Bern, NC with her husband, Stuart Blount. As a family, they enjoy boating and traveling. Toni also engages in reading, physical fitness, volunteer work and community service.
