Susan came to SAS in 2014 and works with the company’s owners and education-related teams on education policy, advocacy and initiatives. Susan serves as an appointed member of North Carolina’s B-3 Interagency Council and is also Chair of the Workforce Readiness Committee at the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce. Prior to coming to SAS, Susan spent five years as National Director of America’s Edge, a nonprofit business leaders organization in Washington D.C., whose members advocate for federal and state education policies and programs. Prior to joining America’s Edge, Susan spent five years as General Counsel of the Children’s Defense Fund, a national children’s advocacy organization also located in Washington, D.C. Before coming to D.C., Susan practiced for 18 years as a business litigation partner with Hall, Estill, a law firm of over 120 attorneys, headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she specialized in complex business litigation at both the federal and state level.
