Marshall Cherry has been with Roanoke Cooperative for over three decades, serving as CEO since 2021, after being COO since 2014. His experience spans customer relations, communications, IT, organizational development, non-profit management, and economic development.
As CEO, he leads “Vision 2025,” promoting energy efficiency financing, electric vehicle transportation, smart energy devices, and a regional broadband network. Roanoke Cooperative was honored in the Palladium Group’s Hall of Fame under his COO leadership.
Marshall chaired the Carolina Small Business Development Fund and served on the state’s Education and Workforce Innovation Commission. He was also on Duke Energy’s North Carolina State President’s Advisory Council and serves on Pioneer Utility Resources and myFutureNC’s boards.
Marshall holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Livingstone College and completed leadership programs at North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center and Leadership North Carolina. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Reserves after eight years of service. Marshall and his wife, Cheryl, reside in Winterville, NC, with five children.
