Kayela Buffaloe is from Gumberry, NC. She is a member of the 2020-21 John M. Belk Impact Fellowship Cohort. During the fellowship, Kayela will explore local initiatives related to college access and attainment with her work at myFutureNC.
She is currently a second year Counselor Education graduate student at NC State University. In addition to the Belk Fellowship, Kayela is currently interning at the Academic Support Programs for Student-Athletes. She introduces student-athletes to skill sets that assist with bridging gaps seen in their level of college readiness.
Kayela earned her B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science with minors in African American & Diaspora Studies and Coaching Education from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2019.
