David Smith currently serves as the Program Manager at MyFutureNC where he supports the successful execution of various initiatives. David spent the last 2 years teaching 4th grade science and social studies at a Title 1 school in New Orleans. In this role, David worked to cultivate a community of learners where every student and teacher strives to become the best version of themselves.

As a member of the class of 2020, David received his B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with majors in Political Science and Interdisciplinary Studies (Public Policy, Education, and Language). During his undergraduate career, David engaged his passion for education by working in educational governance, consulting, and technology. Additionally, he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and received highest honors for his thesis investigating charter school diversity in North Carolina.

Outside of his professional and academic life, David is proud to come from generations of teachers, school leaders, counselors, and social workers. David also loves to enjoy the excellent natural beauty of North Carolina by hiking, cycling, and rock climbing.
