David M. Farris

President & CEO, Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce

Native of Wilson, NC and a resident of Rocky Mount, NC for over the past 46 years. David is married to the former Marianne Stanley and they have 1 daughter, Kate Farris Tharin, (James) along with 2 granddaughters; Marianne Robin & Frances.

Professional Career: David was a partner along with his brother as owners of Farris Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram for 38 Years before selling the business and retiring.  Afterwards David did some consulting while continuing his community volunteering in addition to working on various local and state wide political campaigns. Later David was encouraged to seek the leadership position with the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce, an organization which he had previously served as chair.

David has served on numerous boards throughout the state and locally. Chaired the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Assn. (NCADA) Currently serving on the board of the North Carolina Center of Teachers. (NCCAT) Chaired the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce. Harrison Family YMCA. Chaired Benvenue Country Club. Chaired Covenant Homes. Chaired the local advisory board of Wachovia Bank, now Wells Fargo. Currently serving on the boards of Carolina Gateway Partnership. Central City Revitalization Committee. Downtown Renaissance, Inc. Nash Travel & Tourism. Served on NCADA’s board/steering committee for the Flight of Honor. We were charged with over a period of 2 years escorting over 800 WWII veterans to Washington DC.

Attends 1st Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount and has served as an elder and chaired the administrative committee.
